I've been lurking on this forum for a couple weeks and figured I was long overdue to post an introduction!

I have been living in the Southeast for nearly 20 years. After divorcing from a marriage that put a significant amount of pressure on me to be the perfect "trophy wife" at the expense of my happiness, I have wanted to revert back to a more simple life and discard the urge for hyper-consumption to portray an image to others that wasn't mine nor an image I had truly wanted.

It's been about 4 years since I slowly began my path towards a simpler life; although I struggle from time-to-time, I feel much more content. By implementing some old frugal habits, it helped pay off the $40K in marital debt and bring me more relief and happiness.

Although my time spent on this forum may be limited for a bit (I'm on the path to finally earn my Bachelor's degree), I am looking forward to participating in several conversations with you all!

welcome! This community has been together for a couple of decades and many of us have exercised our frugal gene for so long that we don’t talk much about it. But believe me, we all know how to be frugal and lead a life of simplicity,
( however you want to define that)

Thanks for the welcome!

I have a feeling that I will enjoy participating in this forum :D

I used to be quite frugal before I got married to ExDH. Took me about a year after the divorce to begin my journey towards frugal/simple living again which gave me time to understand who I was and what values I held dear.

Welcome! The path to simplicity is a path to peace. At least that's been my experience and I've had plenty of life transitions.
