Here’s where we can post random things we learned that might be of. Interest.
Today I learned there are padded bras with fake nipples for girlies who feel they have to show off their nipples, but also want extended boobage.
today I learned— and this absolutely shocks me—that first class airline tickets for United States carriers don’t necessarily give you access to the lounges. Is that right? Catherine can tell me about this. I mean, how does this make any sense? Who is that lounge for? I’m watching YouTube videos about flying business class and first class and so far it’s shocking how little you get that is of value to me in first class. I want a “lie flat” Sleeping option with privacy and that does not appear to be universal in first class. All the rest of the
crap in the business and first class seats I don’t care about .
Oh, and you have to pay actual money for Wi-Fi when you have a first class ticket in United Airlines? That is outrageous.

I don't know as much as I used to about airline perks, but I know there has been a lot of perk-flation when it comes to points, miles, and first class. When I hit 250,000 points on United in 2007, I was able to fly six people to Scotland for free. Now I'm looking casually at using points for a trip to Ireland, and two tickets would wipe me out (I currently have 227,000 points.
The lounges are memberships, basically. You pay a lot of money per year to belong, or you can sometimes purchase day passes for around $60. And now they have premium lounges that are even more prestigious than the run-of-the-mill lounges. American Express now has exclusive airport lounges.
if you buy an international first class ticket, I believe you can still get into lounges, but not if you have a domestic first-class ticket. And the first class experience is contingent upon where you are going, and what type of aircraft. If you want the lie-flat experience, you have to check to ensure you have chosen a flight with one of the latest and greatest aircraft. My best first class experience was to Tokyo on Nippon Airlines. Amazing.
I planted a small patch of potatos this year and I finally unearthed a row. I learned that potatos are easy and fun to grow.
Data brokers are selling your flight into to CBP and ICE.

we grew picked and cooked some potatoes already this year. They are pretty good.
I learned that the US military is still running down the stock of Purple Hearts they purchased during the Second World War. Apparently they were projecting massive casualties for the invasion of the Japanese home islands.

That's about like studebaker-packard; you can get many different new emblems left over in the stockpile of parts, over 60 years ago. But yeah---when i thinka the gummmint---i think of 'em scuttling perfectly good war surplus by dumping it overboard. Yup. bUT YEAH---PURPLE HEARTS FOR THE NOT-YET-BORN AND NOT-YET-WOUNDED. yUP.

My neighbor and I share a box and for the first time ever we planted some potatoes, then planted tomato and peppers above. The potato plants have taken over!!!! My reading says that once the potato plants start "falling over and dying", the potatoes are ready to harvest. Still waiting, but very excited!

I learned that Ska music preceded Reggae. I had always assumed it was the other way around.

Today I learned our local pharmacy has little pouches of chemical stuff that disintegrates any medicines you need to be rid of. They hand out these pouches for free.
Today I learned to process my first ever crop of garlic. I also learned/realized that managing our retirement investments is more complicated than I thought and that I would rather process garlic.

Garlic has to dry for a while, right?
Garlic needs about 3 weeks of drying apparently. I learned that you have to cut or pull the scapes off when they curl so that energy goes to the bulbs. I have a baggie of all the scapes in the freezer so need to learn what to do with those.

Interesting! I will have to check and see if any of this stuff is available in my area.
I pickled garlic scapes successfully, pinkytoe.
