I spent two seasons working at this lodge. I served, cocktailed, bartended and even became an.asst dining room manager which was a total fiasco but that's another story.

Though the concessionaire company left a lot to be desired, this was the most amazing location I've ever worked at. Amazing climate, scenery, old trees, lots of summer rain (but not this year....
Very sad to hear of this historic lodge being.gone.

Methinks it may not be rebuilt due to climate change. What insurance company would be willing to take on that kind of wildfire risk these days?

Ay carumba. I've very much wanted to take my husband to dinner at this lodge.....Rob

Our first visit to the Grand Canyon was to the north rim and we had lunch at the lodge. That was about the same time you were working there and I always wondered if perhaps I saw you there.

okay---but you kids can still visit the cemetery nexta the canyon and Flagstaff that has a mass grave of passengers killed in the 1956 collision of two airliners over the canyon.
(see photo)It happened in July; what a mess! Pieces of the planes are still down there. Yup.6446

It's amazing how many people I ran across through having worked in Phoenix. Truly, though I did have issues there, that was the most amazing place I've ever worked. Rob

Picked up my lifetime National Parks pass yesterday! And got my first stamp in my passbook. So fun and can't wait for more adventures. I've been to National Parks before, but not with a passbook, etc.
