Traffic on this site has fallen off precipitously.
You know what's better than cat photos? When your cat walks across your keyboard in the middle of a Zoom call. Well, all we need now is the Zoom call.
It might be a way to liven things up. There used to be the occasional post about people trying to meet up with other SLNers, but you could never really get more than a few people together. Technology has pros and cons. As great as it would be to get everyone together live somewhere, it's never going to happen. So why not go next best and host a Zoom call sometime? Would love to see everyone's smiling face :)
Some old friends of mine starting doing this during the pandemic, every Friday afternoon, and it’s been great. Since we now live all over the place, even pre-pandemic we rarely got to meet up, so this was a fun development.
It's a great idea. I just went to something for my college 50th reunion and it was amazing.

Wow! That would be weird! I have pictures in my head of what everyone looks like, as if you guys are characters in a book I'm reading. But I'm game if everyone agrees that it's a good way to shake things up a bit!

I would be game. I participated in something similar a few years ago through some type of FB platform, with a FB group I belong to. It was weird but kind of fun.

oh I don’t know kids. I like Zoom because it cuts down on the social chitchat at meetings I have to attend and for that reason I find it valuable. I find it difficult to have useful purely social interaction on zoom with a group. Sometimes I FaceTime with a friend of mine but that is one to one.
so I don’t know if I’ll participate if such a thing comes to pass

I am like catherine and have a mental picture of folks, but I'm game!
I participate in several groups (hobby & other) on Zoom and find there's usually 1 or 2 who dominate and many, like me, hardly speak. I would hate to experience that with this group. I like you how you are. Just me being an introvert.

yeah, I think part of the reason I like the forum/discussion board is the relative anonymity of it. Even here, where I feel (guardedly) free, I am not entirely comfortable. I do share things from time to time that I probably wouldn't, if we were friends IRL. This place can be both shallow and deep, if that makes any kind of sense. So I think I'd stay outside the fence on this one for now. Perhaps I need to think about it more. Or less. I don't know. But DD just pointed out it doesn't matter, as my current system has no camera or microphone. :|(

Kim I'm lazy so I am going to keep the math simple. I think you've been part of this since the 90s so I am just going to double up your count since 2013- call it 50k messages here. Even a fuddy duddy cat lady can find a way to connect online with a group where you have that much history ;) Bring some flowers or a bulldog as a prop for show and tell, you'll be fine!

I feel shamed for my excessive participation here.
lol, kidding. I don’t know, I still am not convinced I need to show up. I would have to comb my hair.

okay----we need to discuss our predictions for the outcome of the Reiner Case. Will the boy be found too disturbed to stand trial, and committed to a mental home until the incident blows over? Then, his dream team of loyyers will work out a plea deal of manslaghter, with a suspended sentence? That's my prediction. No weay will the child of a devout hollyweirdo be doing hard time in San Quentin for life. Nope. Prolly, he'll be making a satirical docu-drama when he is released from custody. Title: " Honey, I killed the Folks" Yup.

okay----i know its too late, but i figure if meathead had done like old joe kenn-o-dee did with HIS disturbed daughter(see photo)after she got too rowdy too often, he'da seen to it that his boy was lobotomized/medicated when he was still a teen, and put safely away in an institution, so that he would not pose a threat and meathead could go on with his career as a big-shot hollyweird hippie dissident iconoclast. See? But noooooooo. Yup.6668

okay----i been following the news---all kinds of news-----and it said the meatheadses' remains were forwarded from the ME's office to a crematory. well done. so anyway---hopefully one a the media outlets will get some photos from the ME to publish. Don't you? Hope that helps you some. Thankk mee.

well-----the lawyer(s) representing The Meatheadses' Boy went ta court, and got the judge to block any relese of photos and stuff from the ME's office; I am VERY disappointed, ta say the least. But yeah---maybe some sneaky person will relese a set o' photo's ta somebody, so they can be seen onlike. Just like Porche Girl a few years back. Also, the high-priced loyyer hired ta defend Meatheads' boy has withdrawn from the case. Prolly an issue of compensation, there. Meatheads Boy will need money to live on after he is released from custody, so they can't spend it all on loyyers. Prolly will hire a cheaper one, since the media has laid the groundwork for an insanity defense. See? But yeah---i'd surrre liketa see those autopsy photos. Yup.

okay----Meatheadses two kids disowned their killer brother, so they won't pay for his high-powered loyyer, so that's why the kid is stuck with a coupla local pubbalick defenders. yup. So yeah----the difference between a nice rubber celll for a few years, or decades inside a lockup with Scott Peterson and the Menegeles Bros, etal. That way, he will be outta the general pubbalics way. Yup. I'll hafta see what Dr Grande says.....
