Oh I LOVE Maru - he/she has so many videos. This one's probably my favorite......I laugh so hard I cry when she starts diving into boxes at 1:05: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8uDuls5TyNE Watch it all the way to the end if you have time...

Oh hell ya, big Maru fan here. I just want to take up that fat faced cat and kiss his smooshed face and cuddle him, and suck up his wonderful chubby catness.

I might have learned of him from pug so if that's the case, thank you thank you pug.

In the Best of video you cite, I love the part with him walking around with a sack on his head.

Kills me every time. Why would he do that? It's hilarious. It makes me want a Scottish Fold cat, if that sort of wackiness is inherent in the breed.

I don't think he's a Scottish Fold, his ears don't turn down.

He looks like a British shorthair to me--a good example of the breed. That round head and cobby body are lovely but are not extreme like the Exotic Shorthairs (which I also love.)
I can't watch these videos too often because it just makes me want to go out and get a smoosh face cat.

Yeah, I thought it was odd it says he is a Scottish Fold too.

I love Maru, he is my new favorite! I have been calling my fat cat with mittens (see pic) Maru all week. Unfortunately she does not do cool stuff for the camera.

hmmm, well, then, perhaps he's genetically a Scottish Fold but his ears didn't "fold" and he's rejected from the world of breeding and showing.

In one of his videos, he gets into increasingly smaller boxes., and then a skinny box. His mom's English is funny, too.

He could be a Scottish Fold without the recessive folding gene...

ah, then he is a Genotype Fold, but a Phenotype Box-Cat.

I don't know much about cat breeds, having only owned a black and white mutt and a couple of orange tabbies, but if he doesn't have the folding gene wouldn't that just make him, ummmm, "scottish" or perhaps "scottish stiff"?

But in any case, what a cutie. I'm so glad he finally managed to make the box work for him. My cats both loves boxes too. One's favorite are shoe boxes with attached lids so it's sort of an "open concept" thing. (He lies on the lid with his back in the upright box.) The other one prefers beer case boxes since they're big enough to accomodate his 24 pounds of girth.
