It was cool enough to build a fire in the outdoor fireplace tonight.
:cool::+1:

I'm in NE IL and it's wonderfully cool here, too! I was able to shut off the a/c, run a fan in my BR to cool it down for this evening and open a LR window a few inches.

Yep! I actually enjoyed working outside today. And I did think of building a fire.

After a long heat wave the weather in Missouri was lovely today! With many more wonderful cool days to come. Ahhhhh, for weather in the 70's for a change. :D

Our AC broke in early July, we've been on the waiting list to get a replacement unit....The cooler weather is much appreciated!

I can sooooo relate! Its in the 50's here! Just a few days ago, it was 100! I was even thinking of building a little fireplace in the middle of the yard this Fall. Whoohoo!

Lucky you Float On! I'm envious of the outdoor fireplace thing. Jealous in fact! :) But yes, it's so unbelievable how fast our nights turned cold. As it stands, we're still seeing daytime highs into the high 20's (Celsius), but our nights dip tremendously. Sometimes just above freezing, and it happened so fast.

It's in the low-mid 60s here today. Feels WONDERFUL, especially with how hot it was on Fri & Sat!

I'm beginning to stock up for the winter.

I kept finding myself yesterday stepping out back and actually trying to find things that could be done, just 'cause it was so nice to be able to be outside. I hauled the hose around and gave much of the landscaping a well-needed watering (even though the heat broke, we still have drought conditions - no rain); I found a bucket and gave the bathroom plungers that had been sitting outside for a month the sanitizing soak they needed; I washed down the patio table and chairs; I tidied up the daylilies pulling out all the dead fronds; I lopped away 5 baby trees that had volunteered inappropriately here and there around the foundation and in the landscaping; and I found homes for the 10 or so miscellaneous items that had ended up out back and hadn't been put away due to sheer heat and ennui.

And then in the evening I actually sat out on the patio and talked to DH as he grilled me an awesome supper, and he let the chickens out and I grinned over their yard antics, and I lit the sticks/limbs/brush in the fire ring and enjoyed watching the fire - all things we haven't been able to enjoy in over 2 months! What a wonderful (and Simple Living kind of) day!
