Hey Catherine I hope you didn't get swept away byu the flooding in Vermont. I know you were there during the storm. I was suppose to beleaving today and heading for the Killington area to spend the fall but after seeing so much devastation in that area I am putting my plans on hold. Hope you made it OK - and any one else in VT.

Oh, wow! I was up in a house close to the Stratton Mountain base lodge on "that day" and boy the rain was just coming down in torrents. Then I started seeing Facebook messages from my friends in Jamaica VT, which is the town on the other side of Stratton Mountain.. they suffered major devastation--four houses just were swept away.

When we got to the bottom of the access road, you couldn't go right because a bridge was out and you couldn't go left because a road was out--thankfully there was a detour available.

We had to take one detour around Rt. 100 in Londonderry because someone's front porch was straddling the road.

Grafton is such a beautiful town--devastated. Queechee/Simon Pearce glassworks--devastated. As you said, Killington was devasted--folks couldn't get out! And CathyA, boy, what about Brattleboro! Also a mess. Hope your house didn't have any damage. My daughter had to take some friends back to Brattleboro for the train, and it took them 3 hours to get there (normally 45 minutes). They had to go way north to get to 91 at White River Junction, then go south.

Spartana, don't hold out too long for VT--it's still a great place to be!

We're home now--more damage in our NJ house--we need to get a new circuit board and blower for our furnace because of flooding in the basement. But, not bad considering what a lot of people have been put through.

Thanks for thinking of me!

Glad to hear you survived cathrine. Too bad about your NJ place though but as you said, it could have been alot worse! I think I'll put off the VT trip this fall though as the weather there still seems bad. Been on a trip up the Calif coast and am happy with the nice cool and sunny weather so will travel around the west coast this fall. New England next year for sure though!!
