Not to be difficult, but is SoSimple still part of the SL forums? I checked the list of members and didn't see her name. While I understand why WJSimon was upset at being identified, I would hate to see us lose SoSimple, who has been a longstanding, valued member of our community.

I mostly lurk but have been on the forums since 2002 and I have enjoyed and benefitted from posts by both WJSimon and SoSimple (including in her previous incarnations).

Thank you.

She was a member yesterday (I looked), but today her name has disappeared. A member can stop participating on their own, but their membership status and name can only be changed by an administrator. My guess is she either asked for a new username, or to be deleted from the member rolls.

Either way, it's unfortunate that her well-intentioned attempt to help worried members led to this.

I wondered the same thing sallysue. I hope she's not gone. I never saw the post that was mentioned, but would guess she was well-intentioned with her mistake.

SoSimple clearly was well intentioned in posting the information that she did, but I think she felt embarassed that it had caused hurt feelings.

Often people on these forums, and others, choose to close their accounts, and return under a new screen name, if they have had difficulties, become upset or felt embarassed about something.

It happens regularly, most return with a fresh start. SoSimple was a valued member of our community, and if she chooses to return under another name, that is her business. Not necessary at all, but people make their own choices.

Probably the best thing to learn from all of this is that if a member disappears, it's probably best not to try to Google with bits and pieces of information they have let drop over time, to uncover their real name and location, and then choose to post that information. In this case, it was because most of us assumed the worst about WJSimon, and I'm sure that SoSimple assumed that she had passed away, given the grave nature of her illness, so meant no harm in her posting.

We're glad to had WJSimon back, and we'll be glad to have SoSimple here as well, under whatever name she chooses to participate under.

Don't want to sound that like a traffic cop at an intersection after a fender bender...but, really...."nothing to see here, folks"....all will be well.

I also hope she is still around. I always enjoyed her postings, and I followed the ups and downs in her life. She is like an old friend, whom I don't want to lose. I, for one, was relieved to find out - thanks to SoSimple's research - that WJSimon was still alive, when noone had heard anything from her for a long time and many of us assumed the worst had happened. Some posters don't care to keep their identity concealed - Jill Sanders comes to mind - while others guard it fiercely. If someone emails a poster privately, his/her name pops up and identity is revealed. I hope SoSimple resurfaces sooner or later, she is very much missed right now.

I certainly bear SoSimple no ill will and would be sad if this was the cause of her not partipating. I think she just didn't realize, that's all. I hope she comes back too.

If you are still here, So Simple, sending a cyber hug your way, as it is very difficult to be publicly shamed, and with no offense to anyone, that's what it felt like was happening to you! And when I do something that results in a very negative reaction, I always console myself that my intentions were good, and good intentions are good karma, always. So hope to see you back soon, and hang in there.
