Float On

I'm off for a few days. Just me and the truck and my kayak. Headed north to the farm to hit a few lakes up in that area of the state.

Leaving the DH and kids at home.....without a long list of instructions or prepared food with labels in the fridge. We'll see how they fare - they all need to learn survival skills you know.

Good on you Float On! Wishing you a happy and safe and fun-filled few days!!! Survival skills for the boys back home? You bet! Darn good on 'em too!

P.S. Even if it is for only a few days, I'll miss your company while you're away. It's regulars and favourites like yourself I always look for daily when I visit.

That sounds incredibly peaceful and wonderful Float On. Just remember if your kayak turns over, just float on. :laff: Have a great time!

oooh, that sounds good. One of my fave things to relax is to go hiking alone. Used to freak my mother out but she got used to it.

:cool::cool: Take me, take me!!!!!!! OK, so I'm jealous. I'd love to explore that area by kayak or canoe someday. Once the blackflys and killer mosquitos were gone for the season that is :~) Have fun!

I'm back! Enjoyed my time away. It was colder but I did manage to get away a few times with my kayak and explore a few lakes. Now my dad wants me to find one for him as well. The family survived but I haven't quite figured out what they actually ate while I was gone - oh well, at least I didn't have to rush out and do some shopping as soon as I got back.

Glad you're back home safe and enjoyed yourself! They probably ate popcorn and crackers and peanut butter. lol!
Did you see any cool wildlife while you were gone?

The farm is always full of deer and turkey. There was a mama racoon and 4 babies (1 is a runt) that come up nightly to the scrap pile. Lots of birds but no eagles or owls this trip. That was about it. I will have to upload photos and write a few more things on the cabin blog later this weekend but today DH left before 5 a.m. to go to Knoxville for a week and the boys and I are headed south into AR to go to a friend's ranch to ride horses and assist with a handicapped day out program.

I envy your space there Float On. We have around 35 acres, but its not nearly enough space between me and the world! Have fun in AR.

Sounds refreshing, FloatOn.

We had to postpone the AR trip. It rained hard most all day and when the lightning started that put an end to it for sure. I love riding in the rain but I had a horse that was killed by lightning when I was in highschool. The rain was wonderful, we've been so dry.

So happy to see you back Float On! So happy to hear you had a wonderful time!!!

P.S. I'll just bet the boys treated themselves to a dinner/lunch/supper out, and not just once. (The stinkers)! What do you think? :)

I love kayaking. My parents live at Lake Tahoe, CA, and have a couple kayaks. Last year they bought a pedal one and I love that even more than the traditional paddle ones. My legs can go a lot longer than my arms. :) It doesn't work too well if it's windy though, since then the rudder comes up out of the water too much.
