It's been 17 years since I brought a kitten into the house and I guess it took me that long to forget how naughty they can be. :) Taltos is now 17 and spends most of his time sleeping or pondering where to sleep next. Lucy Fur is 12 and was a teenage feral when we trapped her. She was never very rambunctious and has always greeted every new situation with a timid, wide-eyed wonder and maybe the lightest paw touch. We've been able to leave food and breakable objects out for years without giving them a second thought. I could even do jigsaw puzzles without worrying about losing pieces.

And then this summer a friend's barn cat had kittens and I saw the little scrawny one with just the traces of Siamese markings... Oh dear.

Lily walked in here and said, "Oh yeah, I own this place!" She climbs the stair railings and then plays around at the top, about 15' high. She gets on the table and will steal your food if you aren't watching. She knocks things off of shelves so she can watch Daisy the terrier tear them up. She chases the dogs and steals their toys. She shreds any paper she can get her paws on. The list goes on and on...

But she's just so darned cute! :D

Wow, you do have your hands full! But yes, being that cute gets you a lot of extra points. :) I have a 17-y-o female and a 14-y-o male cat. I honestly can't even imagine having a kitten around. Too much work! I will instead live vicariously through your kitten stories.

While I love them all (I currently have 2 cats and 2 dogs), I doubt very much that DH and I will get any more cats. We are very into rescuing greyhounds and it's harder for our adoption group to find homes for the non-cat-safe hounds, so I'd love to be able to help with that, and also love to be able to foster. Our cats have told us in no uncertain terms that we are not allowed to bring in any more dogs, even temporary fosters.

So, some day, we will only be a dog household (:() and I will have to just get my cat fixes at other people's houses.

I got my first cat when he was a kitten and since I knew nothing about cats I actually thought there was something wrong with him he was so rotten.

Now i want to foster kittens just to get a little more of the craziness back into my life. I think they will be excellent brain stimulation for the corgi...

Enjoy your little one while she's little!

Peggy, that video is precious!

We are really enjoying Lily and her antics. I just can't believe I'd forgotten how energetic and enthusiastic they can be. I almost took two of the kittens home with me when I got her, but at this point I'm not sure the house would still be standing! ;)

She is a cutie! And there is nothing as crazy as a kitten, as naughty as a kitten can be, and as sweet as a kitten can be. They are little bundles of energy, and there is nothing like them!

Harley, a black imp of a rescue kitten, recently turned 1, and is still as hyper as ever. He wrestles poor old Smokey (a placid 13 YO) to the ground, then races down the hall, leaps high up on the wall half way down, and skids across the floor to make the turn into the bedroom where he scuttles under the quilt to lie low for a few minutes, then repeats. I got him to keep Smokey company after the death of her brother last year...she is not amused! But he keeps me on my toes and laughing most of the day. I hope he mellows out soon....or maybe not.

Me, too. Last year I took care of my son's kitten while he was gone for six weeks. He climbed the drapes and walked across the curtain rods. He climbed, and sort of ruined, any screen he saw.

But dang he was adorable.

We got a new cat a 3? months ago that also joins two older ones. He's about 18 mos. old; half siamese, half hoodlum. His name is Blondie (Clint eastwood character in the good/bad/ugly), Blonde Boy, and often Devil Boy.

Incredibly active. Incredibly smart. Incredibly lovable. Incredibly beautiful. I do understand why someone gave him up cuz he is trouble, but I never could. Just love the boy.

I'm glad to know I'm not the only one with a trouble-making kitten. The scary thing is that I really like her badness and I'm usually laughing even while I run for the squirt bottle (which is labeled 'Cat Solvent'). :)

We adopted two maine coon kittens last December; they were 3 months old at the time and our very first kittens. We'd had cats in the past, but adoped them as adults. Our kittens turned 1 this month and they haven't been too bad at all. The worst thing they've done was shred a silk lampshade. They've adjusted very easily to living with our pit bull and golden retiever. They are so cute, sweet, and loving I can hardly believe it. Their names are Jim Beam and Jack Daniels.

Love the names, Glo! Maine coons are cool cats and tend to be very mellow. I would love to have one, but my DH is allergic to long-haired cats (but not short-haired ones, with a few exceptions).
