I'm so excited to report that I've just traded tutoring a senior gentleman in how to use his new computer for a Singer Featherweight that his wife is no longer using. I'm so excited! I've wanted a Featherweight for years but just couldn't bring myself to purchase one as they're pretty pricey. So now I've got one in great working order with the case, numerous attachments that are in perfect condition, and the original manual. Let's hear it for barter!! Woo hoo!!! :D

yay you've joined us in the Featherweight club!

I've got one from my grandmother, I supposed it's 50 - 75 years old. Still runs perfectly.

It truly is my favorite machine. So easy to clean and oil. Trys and trys to sew right no matter what we do to it. Someone I knew was ready to toss one when we finally figured out she had the bobbin in backwards (clockwise instead of counter clockwise). I have a two black ones, a white one, and one for parts just in case.

Found a super nice repairman for those times when all else fails.

Weren't the white ones made for the English market? I'd love to have a one, but was just thrilled to get the one I now have!

I have a couple; they're really, really nice machines--straightforward and reliable with a handsome stitch. Congratulations!

Jealous - my sister is a professional sew-ista (via her work at Seattle Opera) and said if i could ever find a Featherlight - jump on it. In the meantime i have a great Riccar which does a wonderful job. Lucky you!!

Yesterday I took the featherweight into the sewing store for a clean and tune up. It's really grimmy, but I'll be excited to get it back and actually sit down to sew with it. I'm thinking of making a quilt using just the Singer - just for fun.
