OK, this probably doesn't go here, but here it goes anyway:

As an "older" lady I now have creases on the edges of my lips. The color often seeps into these creases. I don't like it one bit. So, I looked online for something to help and bought a tube of stuff, kind of like ChapStick, and it seemed to work for awhile, but it made my lips gooey. So does anyone know of anything that will help? I'm thinking something like clear fingernail polish that one could dab into the creases, let it dry, and then put lipstick on?

yes, I have to wear lipstick -- my lips are purplish and I look like death warmed over without lipstick. Thanks!

That is a challenge. I went without lipstick some time ago but that is not an option for you. Can you use vaseline as a nighttime moisturizer?

lip liner! line the outside edge of your lips, making sure that you are drawing on the lip rather than the skin around it. then fill in with lipstick using a brush. the liner provides the hard edge and your lipstick will not migrate past it.

Wow, I've never used much makeup so never thought about lipliner. Thanks! I'll give it a try.

sure, hope it works out great for you. lip liner is one of those cosmetics that the drug store brands seem to work fine ... wet'n'wild has good cheap ones. for best results it should match your lipstick, or maybe be 1 shade lighter.

Lip pencil. Doesn't bleed. You can fill in your lips and have the look you want.

I read somewhere that all of the lip and eye liner pencils for all the companies are made in about two factories in Europe, so I, too use (and have been satisfied with) the .99 cent liners I get at the drug store.

X2 on the lip pencil. Back in the day when I wore lipstick daily, I used lip liner (one shade darker), filled in lips with pencil. That way if the lipstick came off, I didn't have these weird, lined lips with no color. I put on some lipstick, blotted with tissue, patted with face powder, blotted again, more lipstick.
Usually it looked exactly the same by the time I got home from work as it did when I left in the morning.

I guess I'll look for lip pencil, too! Is it in the same place as lip liner? Thanks all!

serendipity, they are the same thing :)

Oh. I was thinking a lip pencil was something like the thin lipsticks, maybe 1/4" in diameter that I remember from years ago. Do they still make those? I can imagine they'd make filling in the lips easier?

you know, i do have a few "fat pencil" lipsticks from sephora that i really like ... not sure how they'd work for you but they are really good about letting you try stuff and return it if you don't like it.
