Hi all,
Sorry that there was no financial report for the second quarter. There was no SLF liaison to the NRM Board of Directors for our July meeting (nor for the meeting we had on Friday -- SLF needs a new rep). So here is the data, straight from the chief bean counter herself!

First, a BIG thank you to all who have donated to get this new site up and running, (much of those contributions came in December and are not reflected here) and to those who continue to generously donate to keep it going!

For January 1 through September 30th, 2011:

Income (donations) $1278.
Expenses $1278.87
(No kidding! Total expense just happens to be a mere $.87 beyond the donations received as of end of Q3. We have since received a donation of $150, so we are back in the black as of this posting.

The expense breakdown:
Fees (paypal) $9.12
Labor $1023.20
Web and internet $246.55 (Just noticed that category title is a little redundant...)

Web costs will have another big chunk due on the anniversary of site inception in December. But as you can see, this site using vBulletin is considerably less costly to run than might have been assumed. Recruiting some more technical/IT-oriented moderators would help to bring down labor costs, since to-date, that cost reflects NRM staff helping with site administration. Those costs have already gone down considerably now that folks are fairly settled in, though.

Happy frugality, all!

Thank you so much for posting this, Rozie. I have been excitedly and anxiously awaiting it. Don't want to cast a pall on the positive of this thread, but I'm disappointed with the generated income results. To know we just broke even, even then we failed at that, and with 900 plus members strong, very disappointing.

Great news and since this report did not include the start-up costs, as I understand it, I think that things are going well. Well done!

Will you post a call for donations before the big bill is due in Dec.?
