I debated about where to post this, but since you guys are kind of my "online family", I decided on this forum.

This Chicken has crossed the road, and as of today, I have ended my tenure as a Moderator.

I just wanted to thank all of you for the opportunity of the past few years to serve as one of your moderators as a service to the community here.

It's been enjoyable (for the most part), but it's been several years, real life has been moving along, and it became obvious that it was time to start chopping away at activities to get back to the more simple life we enjoyed before. And when I had to come here every day to check on my forums and do moderator duties, all too often, it's led to hours and hours on the internet, once online. Not here so much, but coming online to do the forums acted as a "gateway drug", and the first thing I knew much of the day had passed while I surfed around on the internet.

I appreciate the PMs I've received since announcing my intention to leave some weeks ago, and thank all of you who have sent me messages. Your comments mean a lot to me, believe me.

While the NRF administrators may leave my mod credentials for a bit while we get new mods up and running, in case new mods need help, I won't be checking on the forums every day, so if you have moderator questions, please direct them to other moderators.

I'll of course still be here as a regular member. I love these forums and have learned so many things here and value this cyber community just as I value my community in real life. But feeling as if I can come here when real life allows and on my own schedule, instead of feeling that I MUST get online several times per day to check on forums and do moderator stuff, will be a nice change.

SO.......thanks to all of you for being here and helping make these forums such a great community. It's been an honor to serve, but it will also feel really good to go back to being a regular member.

LooseChickens :thankyou:

I often look at real life titles and duties as a baton style relay race, each successor gracing the new stage, taking hold of the baton and running with it. In sharing job duties and responsibilities, it allows for those (like yourself) to step away, take a rest, and reflect on all the great times and moments shared, lived, and learned.

So, with that said, may I take this moment to extend a big thank you to you, Nancy, for all you have done for us, and for the tireless effort and dedication you've invested to ensure a much enjoyed, cherished, and appreciated home for all.

Wishing you a safe, happy, and healthy time away, and yes, do drop by (when you can) to say hello, to share a story or two, or maybe just a funny/quirky little happening, but most of all, just to let us all know life is treating you well and you are enjoying yourself for all that life's worth has to offer! You deserve it!

All the best, LC!

i've been asked to moderate several forums, but I know it's way too much work. So i really value the work that you have done -- even if I wsn't here for most of it. It's awesome! :D

Thank you for all the work you have done for this community. One of the reasons I enjoy coming here is because it is moderated, and moderated well. There are forums on the internet I won't go to, because of the tone of the community. I think our moderators here do a hard job very well. Thanks! and enjoy your "retirement" from moderation.

I understand, even living a simple lifestyle we still can get burdened with "good" activities and duties. Taking a break, or leaving altogether, can be such a relief and stress reducer, and you more than anyone else know when you need to do that. Enjoy your new freedom of checking up on us without the responsibilities!

Thank you, LC. And thank you also for modeling both a good choice (to leave when you are ready) and a graceful departure. I hope we continue to hear from you fairly regularly!

Thanks, everybody......leaving my mod position doesn't mean in any way that I am less committed to these forums.....just won't be around quite so much, but more as time permits.

One thing about simplyfying our lives is that it seems to be an ongoing proposition....just like cleaning out clutter in our houses, time committments seem to pile up and multipy over time, too.

All the good wishes are much appreciated. ;-)

Add my voice as another poster who wants to say thanks for all of your moderating work here. Many times volunteer work doesn't get the recognition that it's still work, just unpaid. Just know that it's very much appreciated.
