www.genworth.com Has been selling LTC longer than 35 years, and is ranked #1 in insurance in force.

I have not personally bought LTC insurance, and this is not to be construed as a recommendation of the product or the company.

My post has something to do with the fact that a new poster is making posts that reference Long Term Care policies, 3 posts about that. I wonder if that new person is selling them?

Hi Iris,

There were actually five posts, all linking to the same for-profit site, posted by someone I just approved this morning. I banned them and deleted the messages after getting an alert from another user.

I did check both the IP address and the email address against known spammers, but both showed up clean. Unfortunately sometimes people are very persistant when they think they can find people to market to here.

Oh I know you did due diligence. It's amazing that more spammers don't get through. I found this one especially thoughtful because he/she actually read posts and then brought in his point. It's a little more in context than a blast about, for instance, our need for Viagra on a thread that covers letting go of household items and our children s' clothes.

Sorry about my previous post sharing information about the LTC insurance policy that I have. It sounded as though and I thought that the OP was a serious inquiry into companies that offer Long Term Care insurance.

There are now spam bots that will filter posts on the internet on forums and when they hit keywords of discussions that they can inject their advertising into, will alert the spammer to register on that forum to post. The spammer pays folks so much per post to register on forums and put posts driving traffic to specific websites (this particular case). You can find those kind of tasks often on such sites as Amazon's MTurk, and there are lots of people willing to make a bit of money doing that.

They are especially hard to catch in the preregistration process, because they ARE real people, their IPs usually don't have a spam record, so the mods just have to play "whack-a-mole" when they start posting........

Maybe the mod team should get some SLF whack-a-spammer tshirts made!

No problem about your post, goldensmom -- like I said, the personally-verified references to good, reputable companies that members offer to each other here is one of the great ways these forums are a resource to many people. Kind of like our own "free" (*user-supported -- please remember to donate!) version of Angie's list. Nobody would ever think that you were being what we call in China a "fifty-center" -- that's the nickname people give to the thousands of web commenters in China who are being paid by the authorities to post pro-government messages on discussion boards and the local version of twitter. Of course there is also tons of that going on in the commercial sector over here.

dado and goldensmom, no worries. Perhaps your sources will be useful for someone.
