I want to change my name

I want to change my user name here - tired of being Shalom_Poet. I have had this since I first lurked oh those many years ago on the old forums. Now, I want a new identity! Will look into this and see what it involves.

If you want to retain your posting history and have it be linked to your new name/identity, I think that is something I can help you with. Please just submit a new registration with the new preferred name, and then send us an email (via the "contact us" button below, preferably -- that goes to a central email box all mods/admins have access to) indicating your new name and old names. I think we can "merge" the two accounts so that all your old postings appear under your new name.

I haven't actually done this yet as I am a bit freaked out about making a mistake, but I'm willing to give it a try if you are. Nothing ventured nothing gained!

I'm having laptop issues at home and have more limited computer access than usual, so this may take a day or two to get resolved. Thanks for your patience.

In the real world I considered a name-change to Safety Feurst. That way, my first name would be Safety, and my last name would be Feurst.

Thanks lhamo. I gave it a try but couldn't complete the registration process because it said my email address was already in use. Therefore, it would not accept it. Is there anything I can do short of setting up a new email?

Got to tell you that I for one have always loved your user name. I'm assuming you are using it in the context of Peace Poet as opposed to Hello Poet or Goodbye Poet.

Changing a user name is not that difficult. It simply requires that an administrator go to the AdminCP > Users Management, find your username and edit it.
Since all of the moderators here are listed as administrators, anyone should be able to do it, unless of course the 'Administrator' title they each hold is not really an administrator, which is certainly a possibility (imagine the potential problems with having a dozen or so people with administrator privileges poking around under the hood).

I've always wondered about the veracity of that title.

After I graduated college in the 70's a few friends and I drove out west and stayed on the road for about 3 months. Attended more than a few festivals and "gatherings" of the hippie variety. Those gatherings were filled with middle class kids who had assumed names like Laughing Bear and Running Antelope.

I quickly adopted the first name that came into my head... Junior Mints.

Alan, thank you again for your suggestion on how to deal with this. We are still dealing with limited resources stretched too thin on the moderation team, but are taking steps to address the issue. That includes me taking on more of these kinds of questions and problems. As I have stated before, I am not at all technically inclined and am reluctant to do something that might mess things up or be construed as inappropriate. I am also having issues with computer access at home. And I'm on the other side of the planet from most of the rest of the mods/admins, so it isn't like I can discuss these things/get guidance in real time. So thank you for your continued support and patience as we/I try to get up to speed.
