View Full Version : Eat your heart out!
Check out these (http://www.elmirastoveworks.com/) delights!
This would be my personal choice if I had the right home (and the money).

Neighbours have a very similar looking stove and love it.

This is my newish fridge - mine's in a kind of duck-egg blue colour, not this bright tone

Until my kitchen refit, I used to have this http://www.agaliving.com/our-products/classic-aga-cookers/aga-classic-4-oven.aspx
We managed to sell it as there is always a lively second-hand AGA market here in the UK! It's what my mum cooked on and how I started. When we first moved into this house, we had the space for an AGA and I loved it. However, now I no longer cook for such large numbers on a regular basis, I have a built in NEFF hob and ovens.
Lovely! I had to laugh at the way that they make microwave ovens look "retro." But then I realize for people like my children (adults), old style microwaves ARE retro...they don't remember a time when there wasn't one in the kitchen.
That blue is pretty dynamic, Ishbel. Duck-egg, you say? Sounds lovely. We've not had blues in the kitchen for some time in kitchen "fashion."

I had a country style kitchen with said aga. Eventually decided to remodel and went very, very modern, ice-white, high gloss units etc. Husband said it was 'too cold' - and we have recently re-re-modelled in duck egg blue, wooden units and worktops.
I remember very similar styled ones in older homes when I was a kid, too, Razz. The visible fire-box makes my heart go pitter-patter!
Love the new fridge and older-styled stove you had, Ishbel.
Lesliann. As much as my blood flows with all things old-fashioned, retro, and vintage, I absolutely LOATHE dated looking microwaves!

I wish....well, I can always dream.
Me too, Goldensmom. But what a dream it is!
My motto is 'if you can only dream, then dream big' and I surely dream big.

Nice stove! (and nice fridge!)
We have this one in our apt.:

And it cost nothing near that price. At one point about 25 years ago, people were dumping these for a few hundred dollars & my parents picked up a few. You never know - you might run across one somewhere!

Yeah, it really is, isn't it, Peggy. I can see myself sitting in my kitchen, having my coffee or tea, and watching the fluttering and flickering of the firebox. Just thinking about it provides me with a sense of such a homey feeling.
Bastelmutti. I love that stove! The colour couldn't be anymore perfect. My style, exactly. I could live in the modern, state of the art home, but my kitchen, I'd want that to be traditional old. I do keep my eyes peeled for such stoves (and things), while yard/garage saling, but never do I find such treasures.
If I was going all the way it would look something like this...
680
(But considering it costs more than any of the first 5 or 6 houses I owned I will probably settle for a little less.)
Oh, that is gorgeous isn't it. Looks almost industrial, like something you'd find in a restaurant kitchen, and the brass is so beautiful!
