View Full Version : Hearing Aids and t-switch info needed
It has been a challenge but I am now wearing hearing aids. I got the model that enables T-switches which allow me to hear using special theatre systems right through my hearing aids.
I have it set up that I can avoid borrowing the hearing assistive devices at theatres that are a nuisance to use and hurt my ears. The T-switch allows me to plug into the sound system.
Anyone have these? How has it worked? Any advice?
I've been wearing hearing aids for years - since I was in my early 30's - due to an injury I incurred while in the military. I get them thru the VA hospital but I have never even heard of the T-switch. Is this new? Can you add it on to exsiting hearing aids or are they manufactured that way? Can anyone use them or are they specialized? I have severe hearing loss so can't really watch movies or plays in a theatre. Even with my hearing aids in it sounds garbled so avoid going to them (thank God for DVDs and closed captioning!!). Have to use closed captioning on the TV even with hearing aids in otherwise I can't really understand most of what is said. Would love to get something like the T-Switch, so any info you have I'd love to hear (pun intended :-)!). But I have very small ears and ear canals (need small hearing aids) so can't put alot of "tech" stuff into them - can't even use the kind that have volume adjustments - so am kind of limited.
I have a gadget about the size of a small cellphone that came with the aids that lets me listen via a plug-in cord to CD's on my player and MP3 player. I had to buy an extra gadget that enables me to listen to the TV using my hearing aids. I can hear everything spoken easily. So much better than turning up the sound on the TV.
I found this info as I searched right now.

Thanks for the info. next time I go to The VA I'll see if they have something like that. Sounds like it can greatly improve a persons life!
