Has anyone ever bought or looked in to getting a small safe to keep at home to store those few things that you cannot replace in case of a fire?

I live in a building with other people and I keep seeing fires on the news and know two people at work who lost everything in fires.

It would be cool to have a small safe that would protect some things in case of a fire.

Is it worth it to spend couple hundred especially when they say "lasts an hour" hahahahah. Would they clear the fire in an hour?

Or, realy, maybe to just protect from water damage from putting out the fire, huh?

thanks

That's what bank security boxes are for. They are cheap to rent.

Get a bank security box. As my parents unfortunately discovered, a safe only protects items for a certain period of time, and hopefully you'll be able to get the fire out in time. If your house burns to the ground and/or burns for longer than the allotted time period, whatever's in there will be melted (in the case of metals or jewelry) or consumed (paper).

i put out stuff in the freezer as i heard that its one of the last things to go; but will check on the cost of bank fees
