Chalk another one up for Facebook! My stepson, who cut off communications with us last fall, announced today, on FB, that he has been accepted at a very prestigious art school, based upon a portfolio review. Because he's FB friends with virtually all my family except DH & me (and obviously has a friends of friends filter), I saw the notice up instantly! Sooo exciting!

It's all I can do to not text him a congrats. DH & I will be thinking of a way to acknowledge his announcement. Suggestions welcomed!

That's good news. Can you talk to one of your family about it, and then you could honestly say to your stepson that you talked with so-and-so about it and you wanted to congratulate him?

His sis posted on FB, and so we've both texted him a congrats. Yay!

Thanks, IL. It is expensive. We're not paying for it, either. He became independent over a year ago, and has not asked for a dime since then. Prestigious in this case also means really really good. It's a fabulous place for him to be, and I hope he says yes. Given his disabilty, he may be able to get significant scholarships - but that's entirely his busniess.
