View Full Version : Three things that make you happy
I decided this Monday morning to try and start off on a positive note by thinking about three things that make me FEEL happy. Mine are: picking up a new stack of books at the library, being outside all day gardening to my heart's content, hearing dh up at 5:30 making coffee and feeding the dog. Yours?
Nice! I love it pinkytoe!
Last night's at-home date with DH. We went for a walk and sat by the pond, talking, laughing and watching the animals and then came home for some homemade pudding and a game of cards.
I ran out of coffee yesterday and made myself some chai this morning. Delicious!
Naptime! That is about to start for me now since Travis is asleep and James is happily playing in his sisters' room.
DS was home for his birthday this past weekend. We had a wonderful time with him. We laughed alot. I made a great meal for him, and we rode the golf cart around the woods, watched the bats flying in the yard, and saw a planet with moons around it in the evening sky.
DH cleared more trail out in the woods yesterday, so we could ride the golf cart further. Then we took a nice long ride in the cart and heard lots of birds and saw lots of wildflowers.
I'm seeing frogs come out of hibernation in my little ponds. Life is good.
Seeing the seedlings pop up in the gardens.
That the lawnmower actually started on the first pull of the cord yesterday (after sitting all winter).
That we have a renter in our studio (more expenses covered and a little income to boot) (his studio was destroyed in the leapday tornado).
I know it said three...but I just have to add #4:
Watching the chicks in the backyard.
Awaking each morning and realizing that I am blessed with good health, for another day.
Hearing the birds singing.
Being gifted with freedom.

Good topic. Happy topic. My three things are:
1. An afternoon nap in 70 degree summer weather in the camper with a nice breeze blowing through.
2. A long shower and the good ache feeling after working in the yard all day.
3. Crisp clean bed sheets.
3½. Waking up to the smell of coffee that someone else had made.
My 3 for today:
Today the temp is up to 70 degrees. And its MARCH. In NEW ENGLAND!
Vivid purple and gold crocuses are in bloom.
I have an afternoon free to garden! And the birds are back and happy that it is 70 degrees in NEW ENGLAND in MARCH! :laff:
I have three wonderful kids and a beautiful wife. At any given time three of those four make me happy.
 biking as far as I want

Not really in that order:laff:

investing in Apple at well under $200 a share WAS a great idea, and now dividends, too!!!!!
My family.
Finished chores.
A good meal.
Today's three: ***** willows, peepers in the ponds, and lying down in the middle of the wooden bridge over the pond on my hike through the woods and feeling the warmth of the sun on my face and the birds singing. Oh yeah, a Dairy Queen Blizzard on the way back home :)
Mine are: 1) a stack of interesting, unread books; 2) my cat; and 3) having my exercises done for the day.

The view from my drawing room windows.
The beautiful new shoes I'm wearing and keep admiring!
Anticipation of my daughter's wedding on a greek island.
Was visting friends this week.
1. Staying up late talking to my best friend from high school. It's like we're 16 again but without all the angst.
2. An unexpectedly early and warm start to spring weather, complete with early flowers.
3. Catching up with other friends from past lives, and picking up right where we left off on our last visit, which was 4 years ago.
Right now?
Sitting on the dock feeding the fish and listening to the birds. (with a cold margarita. That man can sure make a mean margarita!)
That man. Did I mention he can make a mean margarita?
Planning/anticipating a road trip with my sister and daughter to visit my parents.

Spending time with family.
Travel.
Singing old time hymns.
At this moment:
1. Enjoying the smell and sight of rain still lingering.
2. First warm sip of coffee.
3. Remembering my Mom, today would have been her birthday.
Right now... My DH & 2 cats. And coffee. Math is not my strong suit...
My DH (I call him my little round man and we make a matched pair!)
My 3 granddaughters (my favorite one is the one I am with :)
My getting simpler life.
What else could there be?????
Being home after a week of travel.
The aroma of cinnamon, cloves, and lemon peel simmering on the stove to freshen the air in the house after a week away.
New memories with old friends.
* London
* Having hours upon hours at a stretch to quilt
* Having time to read a good historical novel without any feelings of guilt that I should be doing something more productive
Watching my 2 year old share with my almost 1 year old.

Keeping in mind that these will change frequently, but right now:
coming home after a week away
my 2 granddaughters. I am dying to see their grande prix racers. They care more about decorating the cars than racing them! One made hers a half-pipe skateboard run, with a little man on a skateboard on it, and the other one decorated her care with a man and an elephant going up a hill. Such fun! They didn't win a race, but won 2nd and 3rd prizes for design. All their own ideas and work.
having some uninterrupted time for crafting.

Also have to add that dsil will be home in 4 weeks, and then our little family will be complete.
Spring, birds and buds; the fabulous 56" multicolor paper and seed bead necklace I thrifted this morning for $2; The SO's endless patience with my random enthusiasms.
I am grateful for Matt, the two cats, and saving $90 yesterday by making my own garden stakes!
The sound of happy children and birds singing as I sit by the open window.
Kissing the top of my two year olds head as he snuggles in for a rare moment of quiet together.
That after 9 years of marriage and a boatload of kids, DH and I still like each other so much we don't want to stop snuggling and get out of bed in the morning.
Garden planning.
Napping babies.
I'm over-budget on happiness this morning. :)
today:
1, son is at the recruiter to set up testing
2,great bike ride and home before the rain drops fell
3, my new dog is fitting in so great with us
What a lovely thread!
1. Gorgeous blue sky and preseason sunshine and warmth.
2.Bursting with daffodils that have multiplied from the 1/4 bushel planted many years ago.
3. Getting the 12 fruit trees pruned and sprayed with dormant oil before they sprouted leaves 3 weeks early
Today:
-Spending all morning out on the patio with the little ones while the big kids work with Daddy on a carpentry project. James is playing in the water table and Travis is playing with the sandbox, occasionally eating the first of the spring dirt. :) I'm high on sunshine.
-Fresh, hot bread and fresh, hot coffee for breakfast.
-The new garage shelving Zach and the kids are building. They are reusing materials they've pulled out of the family room during the remodel.
