I would never admit this to anyone in a face to face situation, but my guilty pleasure is watching reality tv while I'm working out, particularly those on the Style Network.

One thing that puzzles me is why someone would agreed to participate, particularly when they are shown in an unflattering light. I can understand on a show like Jerseylicious that they make money that would be otherwise out of reach to a hairdresser/make up artist, or other shows that focus on a blue collar/ low wage earner. I can see the money would be hard to resist.

The one I have the tough time with is Big Rich Texas. This show is about heavily moneyed women and their daughters at a country club, where the show focuses on their lack of class. One of the women is a published author, and runs several companies who is just a complete bitch as shown on TV. One of the daughters has an obscenity tattooed on her ankle. Another woman has been exposed as a poser, ie she said she bought this multimillion dollar mansion, but turns out she was a tenant at will. Why would you want the world to see this? It can't be the money in this case.

All the players play up that bitchiness and infighting. It IS TeeVee ya know.

My current favorite, Dance Moms which I watch on Youtube, has Abbie Lee at the throat of the Candy Apple dance teacher, but in real life they like each other and hang out.

After watching every episode of Toddlers and Tiaras with the exception of some in the new season, I am finally burned out on that piece of embarrassing American culture. Dance Moms at least has some talented children and nice choreography from Abbie Lee. The toddlers are cute but can't do much, yet I am always amazed at the 3 years old who push mom out of the way to go up on stage by themselves and cavort around, that's funny to me.

I also like Project Runway and have seen every episode on dvd. While I am near to getting burned out by it, there is an occasional creation that captures my imagination and leaves me breathless. Right now I am thinking about making kitchen windows toppers that are in homage to Emilio's circus Dress from about Season 7.

We don't have cable but I manage to see enough reality teevee.

The reason they do it is money. Kate supports her whole family and lifestyle on the money she makes from the show, Kate plus 8.

If you wants Little People, you can see where the money they earn from the show has affected the whole family. Their life became more commercial and their kids are to some extent unfocused because of the money in the bank.

I do like the competition shows such as Top Chef and Project Runway although the stupid games they make them play like having a chef ski down a dangerous slope and shoot at a target to get ingredients put me off. Even Project Runway where they had to go convince strangers to give them their clothes was worthless in my opinion. This season America's Next Top Model is more America's Next Bimbo with all the cuss words and fighting. Do these girls realize that their attitude is shown to everyone?
