Brilliant.
I like everything about this idea. What a charming and practical way to build community while keeping reparable items out of the landfill!

I absolutely LOVE this!!!!!!! Neat.....in the extreme.
I noted that part about the Netherlands putting only 3% of its waste into landfills. I remember staying in a campground outside Amsterdam that had several hundred spaces, but only ONE 55 gallon trash can. I wondered how in the world that could take the trash from so many campsites, as a campground of similar size in the U.S. would have had several LARGE dumpsters, but then, behind a screen, I saw the bins for every kind of recyclable, glass, plastics, paper, organic garbage, cardboard, cans, etc., and realized that by the time the campers distributed their trash into the proper receptacles, there was hardly anything left, so that one small trash can was plenty big enough.
SUCH a great idea........
What a great idea! I've been thinking about a swap newsletter for my church, but this is even better. It might be a good idea for the over-55 development where I live as well, which is chock full of elderly people with old-time skills!
