View Full Version : Success! I have a new job!
As of 10:00 am today, I am employed by Wholefoods! I am forever grateful for everyone who read about my work saga and offered advice to all my blathering and ruminating these past few months. It really, really helped to know you were in my corner, rooting me on! God, what a strenuous process it has been, sorting through the dilemma of staying vs. leaving, the guilt feelings I had, etc.
I told the owner today (and it has been a helluva week there, with him switching people around trying to fill positions, him posting on the door job openings, which in a college town there is no shortage of people who want to work in a guitar store). He took it a lot better than I thought he would, probably because I laid the groundwork for him a few weeks ago by stating how unhappy I was there. He even left the door open for me to come back if I needed!
My official last day will be June 1; in the meantime, I will be training the new "manager" and the other guys and then it will all be out of my hands, forever! Thank god!
Congratulations on your new job...we all knew that you could do it!

Cool! May you now be an inspiration for anyone else you run across in a somewhat similar situation....And BRAVO for getting to the other side of this! Rob
Congrats! Getting out of a soul sucking job is incredibly freeing (I know this from experience).

SQ I am so happy to hear this, what a relief for you, normalacy in the workplace what a concept!
Oh, good for you! You are one tenacious woman, m'dear. I hope you get a brief moment of downtime between gigs.
YAAAAAY! I need to find a snoopy happy dance icon -- doing a major jig in your honor in the meantime!
Wishing you all the peace and prosperity you deserve as you explore this new path. I hope you have lots of opportunity for growth in your new position.

Fantastic news, SiouzQ! I am "wholly" in support of your new job (groan)!
Do you get discounts there too?
I don't even like Whole Foods, but it sounds like a vast improvement over your current gig. Congratulations!
Congratulations!! I know personally how emotionally exhausting the job search is. Good for you for following your heart and inner wisdom about what is healthy for you!!!
Wonderful - you'll have to post after a few weeks to let us know how the transition is going.
Did you by any chance kindly exchange a pink ukulele for a 40something woman and a little girl about a month ago (I live in A2 as well)... Congrats on your new job!
Oh yeah...I kind of do remember! Guess I'm not so anonymous anymore!
No worries, I didn't put anything together until you mentioned guitar shop. I always had the impression the owner was pretty eccentric. Thank you for being so nice to us. My daughter loves the uke and that faulty tuning peg was a big disappointment so being able to swap it was great!

Small world, huh? :)
Congrats, SQ. Wishing you much relaxation and peace after navigating this time with grace and fortitude. I sincerely admire the way you kept it together and took care of yourself physically and mentally.
Thanks everyone!
I think the reality of the situation is hitting home for the elderly owner yesterday and he was being kind of nasty to me. I sincerely do not know how the remaining people working there are going to weather the storm of two of the most experienced people leaving at the same time...I am counting the days I have left. Today I am working (probably for the last time for now) at the other guitar shop. Tomorrow I have a much-needed day off (between both guitar shops I have worked seven days in a row). I really need a break! Then back to the crazy-place because the owner is desperate for the new manager to be trained, and why haven't I been training him? Well, when you don't schedule us on the same day to work together it's kind of hard, wouldn't you say? Ughh!!!!!!

Congrats! I have heard very positive things about working for Whole Foods.
It will a struggle to deal with the owner until then because he sounds like he has no problem taking it out the issues of the business on you, but just remember its only 9 more days. Come June 1 I know you are going to feel so much "lighter".

Repeat after me, as many times as necessary: "This is not my problem."
I hope you enjoy your day off.
