DD is like me, unfortunately, in that she has a very over-active sympathetic system.
She did poorly on her Masters recital last year (French horn), and had to repeat it. She has learned ways to calm herself down, but it has been a real challenge to keep her heart from racing, from breathing too shallowly, etc.
It was really important to get her through this 2nd attempt. She took the Inderal, and had the best performance ever. It was fantastic! It allowed her to show her talent. I suppose some people would call it a crutch, but it truly allows some of us to show what we really can do, without the incapacitation of an over-reaction on the part of our sympathetic systems. I actually got out of music after my first year in music school because I just would get too nervous. Who knows where I'd be, if I'd had Inderal back then.
Anyone else utilize this med for anxiety with performance, public speaking, flying in airplanes, etc.?
