Next fall I want to take a class at my old alma mater. Since I took freshman biology in 1966, biology has taken a quantum leap or two. I'd really like to take basic freshman biology. Maybe audit it. After that, maybe botany about which I know nothing.

Then there are languages. I took Spanish in school and a year in college. But I'm thinking of French. Why, I have no idea. Spanish makes more sense here in Texas but I want something different.

Reading has always just been part of who I am. I read a wide variety as anyone who follows me on Goodreads knows. So many books, so little time.

Joe is planning to start keeping bees so he is deep into Bee Keeping for Dummies. We are planning to attend the county Bee Keepers Association's monthly meetings.

Next step, check into fall class offerings at the University of Houston.

Florence - you might want to check out the amazing variety of coursework available on Apple's iTunes University for free.

Also, look into The Great Courses to listen to at home, in the car etc.
I had just finished completing my degree after work hours and was lost for a few years because I had no access to continuing ed beyond basic courses when we moved with DH's job.Someone on the old forums suggested the Great Courses and I have been delighted with them, especially with the discounted rates.
The Open Courses would be a wonderful option but my internet via cellular network which was the only option available beyond dial-up means that I pay for every MB I download so they are not free to me by any means.
I could watch at the free library connection but how many times would I do that if I have to drive into town to do so?

Florence I love that you are looking into all of these things. That is so awesome.

My dad gets a new Masters Degree every 10 years. He's about due and he's considering a theology degree this time. Previous bachelors and masters are in biology, education, psychology, computer science and telecommunications.

I've been thinking about looking into some of the iTunes University stuff too. I haven't gotten around to it yet, but I think it could be interesting.
