Simple hints to make gardening easier

I thought that this was such a great post that the gardening forum should have it as well. Today we were screening dirt to clear rocks from a carrot/parsnip bed and started sifting into our large garden cart which had to be emptied quite often. We got two saw horses to hold our large rectangular handmade screen on top and just let the sifted beautiful stuff fall right onto some black plastic under our feet. Duh! why didn't we think of this yesterday! The screen was made by sandwiching a rather fine hardware cloth between two wooden frames.

When you are planting bulbs, don't use one of the cheesy "bulb planters." Dig a hole with a shovel, use your large muscle (leg muscles) and it's much easier.

I really cannot imagine planting hundreds of bulbs with the "bulb planter" tools.
