We used to do something similar to this on the old boards, didn't we?

Anyway, the idea is to find $100. Find it by challenging your cable bill, eating down your freezer, babysitting for a few nights, starting up a sideline business you've been ruminating on, selling some crap on Craigslist, cleaning up and closing old savings accounts - but find $100.

I have stolen this idea from Barbara Winter in "Making a Living Without a Job" and of course from a scrap of a memory of threads like this on the old boards.

Share your ideas and successes . . .

I started reading MrMoneyMustache.com and it stopped me from jumping out and making a couple of large purchases this past month. I am so close to having my debts paid. I need to sit down this weekend and see what my 'fixed' costs are here, and where I can start watching things a bit closer.

I am 10% of the way there. Transferred internet companies, which will be a $10/mo. savings.

Hang in there, shadowmoss. Yes, doesn't MMM have a way of kicking our butts into gear?

So far for the month of July (amounts are in £Stirling)
Sold item at local auction house = £23.40 (after fees)
Dividend payment from old investment that I had forgoted about = £15.00
e-bay sales (for month of June) = £5.03

Total to date = £43.43 which at an exchange rate of $1.55 = £1 = $67.31
So almost there. and there will be a small pay cheque at the end of the month for the exam invigilating that I did during June.

Also I forgot. Are we able to add in the amount of coupons we used for the things that we really, really, really do use on a regular basis? If those can be added in they I have saved £102.90 since the begining of the year. Yes I do keep track on my spread-sheet........

I found an extra $100 this month by just taking it. I transferred an extra $50 per paycheck to savings. I figure it's easy to blow $50 in two weeks, but if it isn't there to blow, I just won't. This is a new strategy for me, but it's working.

I just discovered that the community college I attended in 2003 owes me $49. I only found this out because I went to sign up for a class for the fall semester, and there was an admissions hold on my account. They couldn't discuss it with me over the phone, so I had to go down there to discover the hold was because they owed me money. And no, they will be not be paying me interest on that 9 year old debt. But hey, $49! :)

We are in the process of refinancing our mortgage, so very soon I hope to be able to report "finding" $6-700 a month.
