View Full Version : Happy LGBT Pride Weekend!!!
I hope you have a fabulous time celebrating your family, and all who comprise it. As someone who is nearing 60, I have seen some profound sea changes in our society regarding acceptance of our Queer family. Marriage Equality is around the corner. Being Queer is a non-issue for our kids.
I am bisexual, and was lesbian identified for 21 years. A dear gay friend called me a has-bian when I introduced him to my now husband. Yup! That's me. My family accepted my ex-wife, and they accepted my now-husband. I am lucky.
Onward to full civil equality!
"Has-bian"--hahaha! I have a relative much like you, but in reverse. I'm happy to see the sea change, too. No one should have to spend their life denying who they are. Closets are for clothes.
Denver's Pridefest was last weekend, and was quite a party from the news reports. Loved to see and hear about it from our gay friends, and to see the outpouring of support from all sides of the community, LGBT or not. Good stuff.
One of the reasons why I love this city is that all of our dreams come true! DH got to meet one of his idols when she was invted to be the Grand Marshall of the Pride parade a few years ago, Morgan Fairchild.
As an aunt of a wonderful transgendering nephew into niece. I applaud openess. It's really all about loving someone for who they are inside.

Another supporter of movement. Be who you were meant to be!
Happy Pride! - from a "straight" person who supports the principles our country was founded on: equal rights for ALL.
(P.S. wish we could come up with a better term to distinguish herterosexuals from bi, transgendered, and homosexuals - the word "straight" always seems to me to imply that everybody who's not hetero is "crooked")

I agree! I refer to myself as Queer. I like that it sounds just a bit off...
