Update on my mom

Just got off the phone with the hospital. Yesterday they put in a PEG device for feeding, and she is already up to the full amount of formula for her needs. The nurse said she slept all night and until late this morning (sleeping off the anesthesia), but has been awake since and more interactive and doing well. Amazing what being nouirished can do for you. Of course, things could change at any time. She is still having quite a bit of a. fib., and the possibilty of sudden death occurs with that. But since I didn't really expect her to live through last week, it is good to be starting a new week knowing that she is still with us. I have plans to go there later this summer, but will go sooner if needed.

What a roller coaster near the end of life can be, especially for the family. Hang in there.

Dear domestic, this is such a difficult season in life--caring for aging parents. You are in our thoughts and prayers.

Thanks to you all for keeping us in your prayers. My mom is going to be discharged soon to hospice, and I spoke to the nurse from hospice today. I'm not really ready for this, but it really isn't about me. My mom has been asking why God is making her suffer, and my db explained to her that it isn't his intention to make her suffer, but to get her ready to come to him. I think he is also trying to prepare us, too, and I'm not taking the lesson well.So today I'm just going to cuddle a baby.

This is a tough time, and my heart goes out to you.

Your mother is really the first person whom you know, and for the first years of your life *is* you. So she is a huge part of your awareness of who you are. While any parent, friend, or close relative is a challenging loss, I think the hardest losses are mothers and children.

I wish your mother peace in her transition, and your family peace in the process as well. Take good care of yourself.
