OK, my baby kestrels have fledged ... the last female left the nestbox Saturday morning ... and I really am sad about it ... but of course happy for them! I hope they'll all be well. I do check on the outside view of the box every now and again, and sometimes can see what looks like a kestrel flying past. I do miss them. I'd like to go out to the World Center for Birds of Prey (about ten miles east of us), where the box is, just to maybe catch a glimpse of them. (It's a neat place -- we do go out every so often.):(

The osprey nest in Lolo MT has two infertile eggs -- they've been sitting on them for 60+ days now. But they're not giving up, tho all hope is gone. Still sitting on it, and turning it. Sad. Sandpoint ID osprey didn't seem to know what to do with their first egg and left it one cold night, so it apparently "died". They do have a "baby", so cute, and apparently they've figured out this parenting thing. They still puzzle over the extra egg in the nest.

I didn't think I'd care this much ...

It's so easy to get attached to them when you see them start out as little eggs and watch the whole progress. Do hope you get a glimpse of them again. I think this is what most people need in order to get attached to nature so that they respect it... Just my opinion though.:)
