I know my placement for next school year [Archive]

Okay this part of work is settled at least, I am okay with it. I will have the same supervisor but I will also have a great person on my team that comes from the other side of our program. The person who previously had the job will not have it this year so I am not telling anyone at work yet. I will be based at one school so that will keep me out of the office and minimize contact with my supervisor and that is just fine. In my calm buddhist moments I see how we are very different in our styles, and the word around the organization is that she is not the top of the food chain right now. Some of her ways of dealing with people are not going over well, I hope she takes this opportunity to learn from it since she is still quite young.

The school is 81% free and reduced lunch, a large hispanic population but under 20% ESL students needing support. It also houses the severe and affective needs special education population. That is an area (specifically affective needs) that is a big interest of mine if I am in a classroom. I will be running all out of school time programming including the budget and any adult education. The plan to adjust our pay according to education and experience fell through so it is basically the same pay as last year.

Meanwhile camp is fun! i have all 20 laptops running and going into week 5 am done adjusting the program so I can do the same thing at all 3 remaining schools with confidence.

Overall, it all sounds good Anne! Isn't it a relief to know where you will be and what you'll be doing? I loved being based at one site...I felt like I got to know all of the staff and the families very well. You have some really interesting programs going on...your days should be busy and full of variety. As for money...well, there never seems to be a whole lot out there for these type of positions. I hope that it is enough to let you eat during the day and sleep well at night. Your summer program also sounds great! Keep on keeping on!
