View Full Version : 2 cucs from the garden!!
I've been watering the garden every 2 days and I guess its paid off. Its the best garden I've ever had, in spite of the drought and heat. It would die in a second if I didn't water it. But with our new fence keeping out bunnies, and the lack of bugs because of the drought, its doing well. As I was watering it this morning, I found 2 ready-to-eat cucs! I'd like to show you a pic of my garden, but Photobucket won't let me in anymore. I guess you can't have everything. I'd pick a good garden over Photobucket, if I had to choose!

Sounds Like you did a good job of keeping it going. Just love cucumbers, on an alkaline diet the are considered most alkaline by one author. Enjoy!
Cucumbers are coming on here. DH hauled in about 20 over the past 3 days. Big tomatoes, too, are ready.
We are watering like craZY, just trying to keep ornamentals alive. My lily season is pretty much done, anyway.
Wow....tomatoes already? I think you're in zone 6, right? I'm in 5. I probably won't get any tomatoes (other than cherries) for at least 4-6 weeks.
I'm getting pretty tired of watering all my flowers. Its just so endless. Some have died already. But the garden.........I enjoy watering it.....'cause I know it will give me alot in return!

That's great CathyA! My garden is the best one ever this year! It's so rewarding. Right now I'm harvesting Santa Rosa plums, zucchini, and Early Girl tomatoes. The Cinderella pumpkins are almost ready! I'm hoping the melons do well, too! Time to go hill up my potatoes...
Sounds good awakenedsoul! Are you in a drought or a heat wave where you're at?
If I can keep watering the garden, I think I'm going to need another freezer for all the stuff!

I couldn't have a garden this year so it is fun hearing about what you all are doing! :)
2.5 pounds of lovely salad potatoes and about 2 pounds of rhubarb today together with a good big handfull of raspberries. I have been growing the potatoes in big pots and I am glad I did as the ground is so waterlogged. I gave away about half of the rhubarb and the berries will be atop our breakfast cereals tomorrow morning.
We had some of the potatoes and a rhubarb crumble for dinner tonight. I do so love popping out into the garden to do my green-grocery shopping! Even when there is only a very small amount by many folk's standard.
