We are headed to the Oregon coast for a family vacation (with 14 people) and just bought a couple of Lodge cast iron pots and would like to do our meal in the pots on the beach.

Anyone have a good, simple, seafood dish and/or side dish you would share? We would like it to be from scratch and it needs to feed 14 people.

Any ideas would be MUCH appreciated.

Thank you!

Bet if you did a search on cast iron pot cooking you would get a lot of results.
I have seen on TV that there are yearly contests for cooking this way so I'm sure you will find a lot to choose from. Here is a URL with lots to choose from:

The dutchoven yahoo group is very helpful:

If you subscribe to the group, it's worth getting a separate gmail address for it so you can organize the recipes in folders.

Also there are lots of postings about dutchoven potlucks.

My girls love - Dutch ovan "Dump Cake" -- lots of recipes online. Very simple to make - but can be overly sweet IMHO.
This time of year the OR coast can get very windy - FYI Have a great time!
