I have been using Google docs for quite a few years and have never been really satisfied with it. I love the idea of having all my documents in the cloud and being able to access them from anywhere, but sometimes I have trouble pulling up my documents, or the formatting is strange. I do have a flash drive (USB drive) but I prefer online documents as I can use them on any platform, and my little netbook does not have a much memory.

Does anyone know of an alternative to Google Documents? (soon to become Google Drive.)

Thanks!

I'm not familiar with anything that could replace Google Docs in its entireity, although with multiple cloud options out there and a copy of Microsoft Office/Open Office/etc., you could easily use the office product of your choice and save the results to a cloud based repository such as Dropbox.

Dropbox works for me.

Hmm - it seems like a lot of these things Skydrive, Dropbox - need you to install something on the computer. How do you access it from, say, the library? My husband uses Apple, and we can share documents with Google - I don't know if these will all be compatible (probably not MS Skydrive.)

I use ADrive.com You can pay money and get an app for it on your desktop, or just log into it remotely when you want to save/retrieve things stored there. 50G free when I signed up. Can't log in from work anymore (not an issue with the site, an issue with a micro-managing head office here) to check that that is still the case.

With dropbox you can log on at the website and drag files in to save without downloading.
