Our local shelters are cutting toilet paper tubes into rings--like napkin rings of various widths-- to use as cat toys. The volunteers roll the rings around for the cats to pounce on. The rings are then recycled after the play session for sanitary reasons. Happy cats!

My cats like those too ... for awhile. You know cats. They get bored. I've also cut the ends so they're "brush like" (flatten the roll in half lengthwise, then cut 1/4"-ish stips about maybe 2" long from each end, or longer ones fron only one end; whatever), which they also like, for awhile. I've also heard that cutting a roll in half so you have two shorter rolls is "fun" for them, for awhile. They do like variety. I'll try that when the next roll is empty. I do love my cats! What they like best is lying on my arm while I'm typing on the computer. Which is where one is right now (Albie). Bless his little black and white heart.

This explains why our cat Pini loves to unroll the toilet paper into a giant pile on the floor--he's indicating he wants the tube as a toy! NOW it all becomes clear...duh! :)
