View Full Version : How to Create an Avatar
Can anyone guide me to where or how to create an avatar that I can use here or on any other forum? Unless one is offered at registration I have no idea how to find on. Everything is on the web but what is safe to interact with. How or where do you store it for use?
Help a luddite.
Avatars I would prefer are:
Cypress tree
owls
Birds
Flowers
What do I do to find this?
You can probably just google something like "Cypress tree images" and then copy a image you like and paste it to whatever photo storage thingie you have on your computer. Then to use it here, just go to your "settings" above (have to be logged on to get your settings), click on " edit avatar" on the left and then select option 2 - "browse images" - which will let you look at your photos in your computer, pick the one you want, save it and that's it. I need to put up an avatar too but I get bored with them so change them occasionally. Will go hunt for a new one now!

To find images (general images), Google, whatever image or images you are after, then click "search". At the top of the page, you will see a list of search options which reads, "you", "search", "images", "maps", "play", "youtube", news", etc, select "images".
When you happen across an image you like, which is referred to as a "thumbnail image", left-click on it. After left-clicking on the image, the image will show-up much larger then the original display page image. Right-click on the image, and a box or pop-up/prompt window will display. Beside "file-name", type in a name you wish to give the image you found, then click "save".
Images, saved in this manner, will be organized under the "my documents" icon, on the opening, start-up screen page of your computer.
To retrieve the image/images you saved, simply left-click on "my documents", then browse through the image/images you saved.
To incorporate or "download" the image and use it as an avatar, look at the very top page of Simple Living Forums, and select "settings". Click on that. A list will show at the far left side of the screen with a long list of options. Select "edit avatar", and click on it.
You will see a box or pop-up prompt window providing you with two options. To help simplify things for you, select "option 2". Click "browse", and a list will display. A series of options are now made available to you. You want to select (click-on) "my documents", and once you are in the "my documents" icon/file, select (click-on) "downloads".
Search through your archived collection of "saved images" until you find the one you want (as your avatar), then left-click on it, then click "save changes". You're done, you now have an avatar.

Very nice. Is it a Goddess? If so, which one and a Goddess of what?
I found the icon when I searched under the word Libra. This is my sun sign and if I had to say what am I all about, check out the generalities of Sun in Libra and that's me.
There was no name to this goddess but the sign is ruled by Venus and known to thrive on being in balance, in harmony and beauty. This is one of the lovelier images for Libra I've ever seen.

I think Libra is the Godess of Justice or maybe Liberty. Maybe Roman or Greek - or both. I could be wrong though.

Libra is also related to the Greco-Roman goddess Aphrodite/Venus and sometimes also the goddesses Eris/Discordia & Hermione/Concordia, Hera/Juno, Ishtar, Freyja, and Frigg and the god Xolotl.
All very interesting. Of course my former avatar wasn't quite as lovely - "Tank Girl" a crazy militant cartoon woman from a post apocalyptic age who's boyfriend was a half dog/half man mutant :-)!
