View Full Version : Homeowners' & Auto Insurance

Just got our homeowners' renewal and the premium made another huge jump this year, so I started checking rates. I found that Costco has an insurance program and the rate through Ameriprise/Costco is about half our current premium. Even if it increases a lot next year (which is what happens in my experience w/ homeowners' insurance), we're starting from a lower base again. Then I checked their auto rates and we can save about 10% there. Does anyone have experience with Ameriprise? Or good/bad experience with other companies?

I've always had Geico for auto and their rates are generally good and I've had excellent service, so I'm less inclined to change that than my homeowners' insurance.

Even so, most companies will give you a further discount for having multiple lines of insurance with them. Not to mention the -- ahem -- simplicity of dealing with only one company and one bill ...

Hi,

Sorry for jumping into the discussion.

I don't know much about auto insurance but for home insurance, I can assure you that choose any one of best 10 companies (http://www.onlineinsuranceportal.com/best-home-insurance-companies/) and rest assured about premium & benefits.

Thanks,
raavan

I'm surprised it's still appearing.

I have something called CA Fair Plan. It's inexpensive. I use AAA for my car insurance. Since I've reduced my mileage, the price has dropped $400.00 a year. Driving an older car helps, too. I'll have to check out the prices at Costco. Thanks for the info.

I considered it spam because ravaan's very first post -- in fact, his/her only post here -- did not introduce himself/herself or establish any qualification to discuss the topic (in fact, he/she flat out said they knew nothing about car insurance with no explanation offered). There isn't any personal information on his/her profile. That solitary post linked to a generic/commercial Web site, presented with no context as to how it applied either to ravaan's experience or the OP's situation. Really, any of the 10 companies promoted by this generic Web site are good and trustworthy? ravaan's language also was rather stilted. It's not like you have to write (American) English perfectly to participate here, but it's a bit of a flag when everything else is taken into account. It was as if he/she joined simply to link to that Web site. And ravaan's lack of protest (actually, lack of a second appearance here) pretty well makes the point.
