In the city that is close to here, there were 4 small children left in a locked car in the heat, while the parents grocery shopped. The temp in the car was about 110, after the police took the children out.
This means there's been a total of 8 children left in locked, closed up cars in horrible heat so far this summer in this city.
How dumb can parents be?
And another thing that bothers me is that when passer's-by find these children, dying in the car, they call the police and wait for them.............. I would bash that window open in a second.
Now tell me what's wrong with sterilization again?

Not sure what is wrong with people. It would be interesting to have the parents sit in that car for the comparable length of time. They'd be complaining right away, even though actually kids are at higher risk for temperature related emergencies since their bodies can't handle the temp extremes as well. Hopefully some publicity about this will help!

You might, but I don't think that would protect you from being cited and paying a huge fine or being prosecuted.

One would hope.

It is sad how (sometimes) even those who set-out with best intentions, get caught-up in legalities surrounding.

I think it would be wise to place a call to 911 first, then get permission/instructions on getting the children out. I would hate to be accused of kidnapping. Better safe than sorry, IMO.

What an upsetting thing to happen upon, though...

It would be unconscionable not to.
