No, I'm not kidding! :0!
There have been incidents downstairs (all one department) experienced by people working late, sometimes multiple people have experienced the same thing at the same time. Virtually everyone who has worked late has had some sort of an experience.
I only found out about it yesterday when the newish (maybe three weeks?) manager for that department asked me how late I would be staying as she didn't want to be in the building by herself. Said she was still uncomfortable with working the alarm. Talking to her later, I found out she had experienced something last week, gone to the other folks in the department, and found out they'd had issues, too. Seems to be a sensible lady, but she was shaking when talking to me. There was still one other person in the office (a VP who thinks it's just the building settling) when I left last night.
Since I'm a woman of action, I brought my holy water from home into the office this morning. I've been getting there at 6-6:20 (we have some staggered hours, one woman starts at 6:30). Unlocked, then proceeded to sprinkle holy water all around the downstairs and around my department upstairs, too. Small bottle but I used it all. I sang a prayer while I did it, but nothing threatening. Didn't want anything to think I was a threat - I sang one of the prayers from Epiphany that's associated with the house blessings each January Orthodox priests do.
The newish manager wasn't there today, but I told several of the folks downstairs what I'd done this morning. They were relieved and said they should have thought of it themselves - they're Catholic and also have holy water at home. I told them to let me know if there is any change in "activity." Folks upstairs haven't noticed anything. Although we have to go through the downstairs to get into the building of course, we don't have to go through the "haunted" part.
The folks are freaked out enough that it got me weirded out. So, instead of staying late at work, I packed up a bunch of files, left right at 5, and worked at home this evening. That meant I could get a bit of a nap before working, anyway! ;)
A friend had her office blessed and suggested on Facebook that I "bust the priest out." I actually think mine would do it if I asked, but we'll save the "big guns" for if they're truly needed.
My work is never boring, but I'd have to say that this takes the cake.
