View Full Version : How do they do it??
These were all over the place this morning, and I just had to go take a few pics of them. They are just amazing!

You really caught some great spider webs, nature is amazing!!! Although I wouldn't want to be the fly caught in one!
Spiderwebs and bird-nests amaze me. So perfectly and delicately done.
I watched a spider build a web outside my window and I can't believe how fast they can put out that stuff! Is it wound up in a ball in them, or is it made right on the spot? Its hard to believe they can make something like that on the spot as they go. I've also noticed that when they are full, they go to a nearby leaf and pull it over on themselves, and stay there a while. When they get hungry again, they go back out in the web.
We had fog this morning and alot of condensation which made all the webs show up everywhere. It was magical!
Early-morning frosts, also make for great spiderweb shots.
Fast aren't they?! On frosty mornings we see them all over the cattails.
I love spiders. Always have.
I read somewhere about birds' nests being a rationale for a creator-God. Seemed as good a justification as any. The incredible beauty, variety, and ingenuity of nature is as close to God as anything I can think of.

Cathy, I have to ask you what kind of camera you have...your pictures are always stunning!
I see stuff like that and I think, "why do I have to go to work? I'm missing so much!"
Valley......I use a Canon Rebel XTi Eos. I usually use a telephoto 70/300 lens. I really don't know how to use all its functions. For me, its just a point and shoot! I also really still like my little Canon Sure Shot, which I've been using for many years. The spider webs were with the nicer camera, but the others I've posted here were with the Sure Shot. I really should learn how to use all the functions.........

I like this, actually. I'll just have to steal it you know...;)
Thanks for sharing such amazing pictures. Here is some info on web building:

Thanks for those links Amaranth! I didn't know spiders put out different kinds of silk, so they don't get stuck themselves. Makes sense!
Interesting info!
