I have some good work news to post.....wanted to share it as I gather I am not the only one who is out there looking.....I was hired by a catering company to pick up banquet serving shifts here and there. I am working my first shift this coming Monday evening downtown at the Arizona Science Center, for $10/hr. This is great as it is very flexible and I can list it on applications and resumes, and it does bring in some money. Also if I go the self employment route, this can be an income stream on the side. So win/win on this one I think. I would encourage anyone out there with any food and beverage experience to see if they can pick up some shifts with a similar banquet staffing agency, especially since this work tends to be so flexible. I"ve always thought that this kind of work would be very useful since it is quite flexible. But I can see where a lot of experience really comes in handy since you are in a new environment every night and have to think on your feet to give service in an venue that is unfamiliar.

A lot of performers do catering on the weekends for extra money. They like it, too. Many of them also usher at theaters like The Pantages when shows are in town. A friend of mine worked as a dresser backstage, too. (She retired from dancing professionally.) She would help the performers into and out of their costumes. It was nights only, and matinees on the weekends.
