I had to share that I had a technology breakthrough today.....Amazing! I had a resume saved onto a flash drive from the SOAR program I attended through DES here in Arizona. Today I googled how to copy and paste and it was a bit frustrating but I FINALLY got it right and was able to see my resume transfer into the little box!!!!! This may be the most basic of the most basic functions these days but to me it's a huge deal, that I now know how to do this. This means more resumes and out to the kind of places that require them.....We'll see if I don't eventually get a job! Rob
Fingers crossed for you, Rob!
Great, Rob!
Once you've done the basic basics, you might want to check what classes might be offered for free at your library. Beyond the basics, my library offers classes on MS Word and Excel, that are totally free for everyone.
I can relate to your little thrill of victory, as I was encountering having to learn some of the same stuff earlier this year at the MI - Works office. I never even knew what a flash drive did before that!

You can do it, remember computers are mostly logical. Mostly? Well actually of course they ultimately only ever do what they are programmed to do, but everyone no matter what level of experience with computers they have, has encountered: computers doing funny things, why are computers doing this, ack, I don't know, slam head on desk, argh! But for the MOST PART, it's learnable, it's a set of learnable skills, not some impossible mystery.

I've been thinking about this and why this has been so hard for me to pick up. I have sold things on ebay before and that was not all that hard to learn how to do, and I also have a private blog on blogger.com - which I use like a diary - that was a snap to set up. I am also working on a public blog that also was a snap to set up.....So why is this so hard? I think it's because these other tasks had a logical sequencial (sp?) process to them - whereas cutting or copying and pasting is like here just do this, it's so easy, and there is no sequencial process to it. I have always found this intimidating - situations where this is so simple, here just do it, and when you don't know how to do it, it's very frustrating and you feel stupid. This is one reason I am just not suited for office work and why I have respect for those who can handle office work. (To me, office work seems full of situations like this.)
Somehow in food and beverage when such things arise and I'm up on my feet running aournd and there is some aspect of personality which I can inject into the situation it is much easier to deal with hey this is so simple, just do it. If this makes any sense at all.....But anyway, at least I have another hard won computer skill under my belt now!!!!! Rob

Congrats! I think I have an inner resistance to technology in general.
I tried using blogger and found it very confusing! Maybe I should give it another shot.
