I have posted before about how much I feel overwhelmed and embarrassed and just plain fed up with the extreme messies in my house. I have had more than one stretch of time where I wanted to cry on a regular basis and really tried about everything to get the house cleaner. Well here is what I just noticed. School started 2 weeks ago and my middle kiddo started work 3 months ago. So we do NOT have teenagers with nothing to do sitting at home full time. It makes a huge difference. Even though we are all a lot busier, youngest son in school and takes public bus a significant amount of time, middle daughter working and taking a college course and has long bus rides and my first 2 weeks back being 60 hour weeks, we are much cleaner.
I also realize this was likely the last summer that things would be like this. Next summer son will be 16 and have some type of job, girls will have work and school that goes year round, and I always work the summers. I am truly so much happier.
