View Full Version : Daily Bread... (what's yours)?
Do you have a favourite thing you like to do (daily)? Something you like to eat/drink? Somewhere special you like to go/visit? A special somebody you like to see/spend time with?
For some, going out for an early-morning run (jog) is their daily bread, while for others (like myself), enjoying a quiet morning in the company of my favourite companion, a great cup of coffee!
Meditation. Sometimes formal sitting but I also recognize my informal practice of quiet sitting with a cup a tea in the early morning. This makes the day start well.
Walk in riverside park with dog 1.5 hours each afternoon. Very time consuming but worth it. She looks great and I have time to relax after a stressful day.
Hmmm - maybe bread? I probably eat half a loaf a day - lol.
I LOVE taking Nessie for a walk and then, in the summer, sitting outside on my patio drinking a cup of coffee (or two). That's the most regular thing I do. Other than that, I don't have too many routines, unfortunately.
Although, DH and I often record Jeopardy and then watch it during dinner. That's an enjoyable routine, too.
Thirty or so years ago my daily bread was reading the devotional ‘Daily Bread’ but now my daily meditation/focus time is just bible reading - 5 Psalms (except for when I get to Psalm 119 and that is the only one for that day), 1 Proverb and a New Testament selection. This routine gives me perspective for whatever may come my way during the day. When weather permits, I read sitting on the deck with the dogs and listen to the quiet, the birds, the cows and the sound of the few cars/trucks that travel the gravel roads in the early morning.
Meditation in the morning and walking our dog twice a day. Keeps me mentally, emotionally and physically fit.:D
It has changed through the years but now I must have a daily walk or I don't feel quite right. Also need some touch - a hug from DH. Also love the chance to hang out with the cats as that calms me down after a long day at work.
Morning exercise, though it differs in mode with the season and mood. Usually biking or walking. I get grumpy if I miss more than a couple of days.
Lately, I've been doing a Chai tea mid-afternoon. I've not quite found the perfect recipe, but enjoy experimenting.
Get up a couple of hours before the rest of the family and have some chai in the beautiful, quiet morning.
Sitting on the dock feeding my fish (and the turtles, and the muskrats) every evening. My morning cup of coffee while checking my she-mail.:)
Lovely entries everybody.
Another daily bread I dream about (often) is being able to enjoy waterfront-living. I would take daily (early morning) strolls on the beach, and find a favourite washed-up log to sit on while enjoying my coffee.
