Does anyone have a good recipe for these? I'm not looking for the kind that starts with unwrapping a bag of store bought caramels. I want to make my own caramel, which is somethng I'm sure I already have the ingredients for. We all just love caramel apples. Also looking for candied apple recipes, too. I did a search for caramel apples on allrecipes.com, and the first recipe up was one for an alcoholic beverage. Not something I can give an 8 and a 10 year old! Thanks in advance for any help.

I found this on pinterest awhile back...had no idea you could make caramel this way:

The Better Homes and Gardens cookbook used to have a recipe for homemade caramels. My mother made them every Christmas. It called for sugar, cream and butter and it made a sticky caramel that she individually wrapped in waxed paper. I'm sure you could use that and it would stick to the apples.
If you can't find the recipe, let me know and I'll look it up. I still have the cookbook.
