I just discovered SproutRobot (http://sproutrobot.com/)! You put in your zip code and it tells you what things can be planted now. You click on the plant, and it gives you awesome, detailed instructions on how to plant it. If you sign up for email, they will send you updates on what to plant and when.

You can look ahead and see what you might be planting in coming months so you can get your beds/containers ready. So useful.

They also have a service that sends you organic seeds when you need them (I won't be using that, but still, very cool!)

Love this site!!

Just did look this up and it is fantastic although I have had to wait to plant here at May 1st because if frost, once it was May15 . But these were for flowers only...thanks for posting...:)

Very cool, and ditto my thanks Gardenarian. I'll be bookmarking the site.

Also, we must be doing something right. SproutRobot said that we should this week be planting radishes, leaf lettuce, spinach and turnips. Last weekend we got radishes, romaine lettuce and broccoli into the garden. Close enough!

Thanks, I have been starting a new veggie garden for next year. I got a rototiller after all these years and am excited for spring 2013!

That's really cool, but a bit strange. I put in my zip then tried my parents' zip and my work zip. Work and my house's zip instructions were the same but my parents' was pretty different: like 3 weeks different on starting tomatoes. They live about 10 miles directly north at nearly the same elevation, but work is southwest ~30 miles and about 200-300 ft higher in elevation than my house. Interesting. Of course here even a few hundred feet elevation or a few miles proximity to the mountains can make a gigantic difference in weather so it's probably not too surprising! But this will be a great guide for stuff I've never tried before and have only a very loose guide from the seed packet of when to start stuff.
