I've decided to buy a drying rack or two. I've got a good bit of room in a corner of my kitchen. Where did you get yours? I'd prefer to spend a bit to get a good one.

Thanks!

When I had bought some I went to Target, where they have metal ones that have a plastic covering over each rung and I really liked that a lot since the wood ones could possibly leave a stain on the clothing if the item is too wet and left there for too long.:)

I saw this in action at a fair last fall, and ordered it late this summer. It's fantastic! Best I've ever had. Made by a family in MO.

Ikea has the best ones I've seen, with the most practical arrangement and largest hanging space.

Ours is from Ikea as well.

Can fit an entire load on it.

Being the traditionalist that I am, I appreciate the classic wooden-doweled accordion style rack over all else. Old-fashioned, sturdy, built right.

I would second MrsMs choice. I have two wooden ones I bought at Menards. They don't sell the same sturdy ones at Menards anymore so I will buy one from the amishhomeplace next time.

I got the same one as Mrs. M did, only from Lehman's catalog. The large one. It's worked great for many years.

Additionally, if you do decide to go for a traditional accordion-style wooden rack, you can purchase closet-bar plastic sleeves, then slit them from one end to the other, and affix the sleeves to one or two wooden dowels to ensure the snag-free drying of dedicates, etc. My husband did this on mine.

To add, chances are good, they'll be some excess material (plastic) that will need to be trimmed away to provide for a neat fit, and you can do that with either a pair of sharp scissors or utility knife.

What Tussiemussies said!! I needed one out here in Cali, at home on the other coast, I have several wooden clothes bars that I have gotten from auctions!! My DH got me a really cool antique clothesline, in apple green, that is wooden and folds up when the line drying is done!! I have not seen one like it anywhere in my travels. The one from Target, is very nice, folds up nicely too....and was a whopping 19.99!

Hello, Mrs-M! I've been rather preoccupied lately, and I've not remembered to take a look at racks on my weekly trip to Target since I started this thread, so I will let you know!

I finally remembered to look at the drying racks when I hit Target today.

I got a white metal rack with 25 ft of drying space for about $23. It was very easy to put together. I put it together while I had a load in the washer and now the clothing items are drying on the rack. I still hung up two thin cotton sweaters to dry (inside out so shoulder marks from the hangers are on the inside) and one cami. The rack is an empty corner of my kitchen.
