Thank you so much for posting this! I just bought a jar of Trader Joe's peanut butter the other day, and it's on the list. I had no idea about the recall!
Don't know what I'll do - peanut butter is a major food group to me!

If you have a food processor, making peanut butter is pretty easy. And, as far as I know, peanuts haven't had these same issues (yet). I like to buy them raw and roast them myself before making peanut butter. But making butter from nuts purchased roasted works, too.

ETA: I apologize since I just realized there have been some recalls of peanuts themselves. So, it doesn't change that it's easy to make nut butters at home, but wow, even the supplies of plain nuts are suspect.

Gardenarian, I was at Trader Joe's yesterday and they had signs posted with the specific types/sizes of peanut butter that have been recalled--there were very specific sell by dates for the lots that were affected. Anything that was targeted as possibly contaminated has been pulled off the shelves, so if you bought the peanut butter there in the last few days, it is probably okay. But you can always call the store and ask them. Here is the direct link for TJ's nut product recall: http://www.traderjoes.com/about/customer-updates-responses.asp?i=86

Thanks Miss Cellane!
Yeah, I went to TJ's about a week ago for the second time in about 6 weeks and both times no Almond Butter. It's a drag.
