View Full Version : I can vote today.
I got my mail in ballot today. In our rural county in California all voting is done by mail. I have 6 candidates for president i can vote for. They are Libertarian, Peace and Freedom, Democratic, Green, American Independent, and Republican.
As I do not like the two major parties I think I will vote Green to make tiny statement.:moon:

Got for it, free! I BEG you to vote Libertarian!
The next time around, if the repubs get in AND IF they DO NOT take serious steps toward fiscal responsibility, I'm there with you. I'm giving them one more shot.

That's exciting, Free, and I like seeing a ballet with six candidates. I think I am writing in Ron Paul.
I'm also voting by mail. I'll vote for Obama since my dream presidental candidate doesn't exist :-)! I do side strongly with alot of libertarian beliefs though (small non-intrusive governenment that keeps it's nose out of the private sector) but also feel that there are some things that are needed to be a safe and secure country - things that involve the government and cost taxpayer money like public education, public healthcare, old age pension (Soc. Sec.) , a strong military (one that is smaller and used more for protection of our country rather then wars overseas unless we are directly threatened by the government - not just random terrorists - of another nation), and some regulatory stuff like health, safety, environmental and legal/civil/equal rights to ensure that the citizens are protected.

Agree 100% with Spartana. And anxiously awaiting my mail-in ballot.
I may vote for Virgil Goode from SW Virginia, Candidate for the Constitution Party. Maybe not...

I also have libertarian beliefs and thoughts.

It's true then - Great Minds DO think alike :-)!!!
Thought of you guys when I read this (very funny) essay: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/floyd-elliot/to-my-progressive-friends_b_1948203.html
I won't be voting a third-party until the Right puts up a candidate that I respect, and feel I can afford to elect, as Elliot explains pretty eloquently.

They don't care about our votes, they didn't even bother to campaign for them (didn't campaign in this state which might be a blessing mind you!!! I don't necessarily complain!). If Jill Stein and Gary Johnson et al gets enough votes that California goes to Romney let me know ok. Like I would say: get real!!! snort! Because that is a totally unreal proposition, talking about living in make believe land. If so 3rd parties will haved made unprecedented waves. I probably wouldn't vote AT ALL period if it was just the Presidency, but there are initatives which likely motivates me to the polls.
Sorry -- I committed the crime of not living in California. It's that swing state mentality I'm saddled with. My vote still counts here, and in several places in the country.
I have a gulf coast friend named Chad who determined the 2000 presidential election, for example :D And that election changed a lot of lives.
No wasting votes for me this year, with two (more) wars, women's choice, a supreme court justice on the line, among dozens of equally important issues. Sorry.....I don't need to make a statement THAT badly.
